State troopers help deliver baby on Garden State Parkway

Two state troopers helped a Lakewood couple deliver a baby on the Garden State Parkway.

State Police say the women went into labor on Wednesday night and her husband was driving her to the hospital on Thursday when it became apparent the baby would not wait. The couple pulled over on the parkway in Wall and called 911.

The troopers arrived to find the baby boy had just been delivered.

State Police say Trooper Yenier Hurtado removed his uniform shirt and wrapped the boy in it. Hurtado cut the umbilical cord after paramedics arrived and carried the baby to an ambulance.
