State of the media

You’ve heard already that Editor Brian Howard is leaving City Paper, Brownstoner is closing up shop and Foobooz is getting swallowed up by Philly mag. We’ve been waiting for the Philebrity reaction, and it’s here.

Let us begin dissecting Philebrity’s take on the recent blogsphere movement:

Nothing but love for CP, as Phileberity wishes the alt. weekly its best. Howard’s departure is the second in two months. Publisher Paul Curci left in October.

An easy target, Philly mag gets called out for its lousy web presence. While that could be a back-handed to Foobooz, we bet Philebrity (also owner of Phoodie) is just a little bit happy the food and drink site will become somewhat more obscure.

And then there’s Brownstoner. The real estate and development blog gets lambasted for its Brookly roots, short stint in Philadelphia and lack of a business plan. All valid points, but they must come as a swift kick in the shin to the Bstoner folks who put in nearly a year of work only to shut down during the holidays.

Philebrity’s plan for citywide domination is in effect.
