A man shot his mother’s ex-boyfriend with a BB gun early Tuesday morning in Toms River, police said.

Toms River Ptl. Michael Cassady responded to Wawa at 179 Route 36 East on a report of a man passed out in the bathroom, according to a release issued by the police department.

Cassady found a 34-year-old man intoxicated and bleeding on the bathroom floor, police said.

An investigation revealed that the 34-year-old man had gone to his ex-girlfriend’s home on the 500 block of Woodland Avenue in the township and at some point passed out on the front lawn, according to police.

He awoke and fled when the woman’s 18-year-old son, Jacob Weightman of Woodland Avenue, began to shoot him with a BB gun, police said.

The man was treated for minor wounds to his forehead, face, and shoulder, police said.

Weightman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was released on $75,000 bail.
