Seaside Park has NJ’s toughest smoking ban

    No butts about it.

An anti-smoking group, Global Advisors Smokefree Policy, says a Jersey shore town has the state’s most stringent restrictions on public smoking.

Smokers will not be permitted to light up on Seaside Park’s beach, boardwalk, fishing piers and parks. Anyone who violates the ordinance will face a fine of up to $50 or up to two days of community service for the first offense. That escalates to $100 or five days on the second offense.

Seaside Park administrator Bob Martucci tells the Asbury Park Press the ordinance aims to protect health and the environment.
