Glasgow skate park set to open with community day

The official opening of the Glasgow Regional Skate Park is set for Saturday as part of the park’s first “Community Day.”

New Castle County Councilman Dave Tackett is sponsoring the event, which is to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the park located at U.S. 40 and Delaware route 896 in Glasgow.

Organizers told The News Journal of Delaware that community day events will include health and wellness screenings, a community yard sale, contests, giveaways and raffles. A shredder truck also will be at the park from noon until 2p.m. Saturday to accept three file boxes per family to be shredded.

The Delaware Humane Society says it will also provide a clinic for animals during that time.
