Seger Park Sprayground Competition!

Seger Park and Playground (10th & Lombard) is undergoing a renovation along its west side. The winner of the water feature competition will be selected at a community meeting in late Spring 2011. The winner will receive the contract for construction documentation and shop drawings. The $20,000 award will be parsed out during and at the completion of the aforementioned construction bid set per the awarded contract.

FOSPP is seeking a water feature that will act as a visual icon for the park.  Interaction with the water feature will be primarily for children from 2 years to 12 years of age, with younger children accompanied by adults.  The water feature should be elegant in design yet offer a myriad of spray types (rain to mist), locations, timing and/or other related effects.  Surprise is an essential component, yet a predictable facet is desired for younger children.

Uniqueness is essential for a successful entry.  FOSPP wishes to have a sculptural focus that is different from all other parks.  Abstract or literal, the water feature must be unique.  Despite the fact that the site is located in Philadelphia, please do not include historical references.

Budget $250k for fabrication and installation. For competition guidelines and registration info, please go to:
