Motorists should expect delays on Route 37 heading to the Seaside area through Thursday.

Scheduled bridge work is taking out the left lane on the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge, which links Toms River with Pelican Island, until Thursday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Crews will be working between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day.

The state announced in January that work will be ongoing in preparation for major repairs to the span, which is slated to begin later this year.
