‘Santa’ sets record at Philly Marathon [photos]

The GORE-TEX Philadelphia Marathon brought runners through several Philadelphia neighborhoods Sunday, on a 26.2 miles journey to the finish line in front of the Philadelphia Museum of art on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Gisela Olalde Granados of Mexico won the women’s race, with a final time of 2 hours and 40 minutes, and Teklu Deneke won the men’s race with a time of 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Philly’s own Brian Lang broke a Guinness World Record during the race, finishing in a full Santa costume (plus sneakers) at 2:54:02, beating the previous record by almost 2 minutes.

Even the struggling finishers managed to crack a small smile after crossing the finish line, with some dancing to finish, and high-fiving the energetic Mayor Michael Nutter and beaming.
