Safe pets

Cats and dogs can’t use condoms. So says PETA, whose members will be handing out condoms today at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The animal rights group will be at the Cathedral at noon to remind people that while birth control is easy for some (and sanctioned by the Pope, in some cases), pets’ only line of defense against overpopulation is getting spayed and neutered by humans.

PETA’s statistics show eight million cats and dogs enter U.S. shelters every year and half are euthanized because of space issues.

So, if you like pets, need condoms, or a little bit of both, you know where to get your fix today.
