Some suburban-Philadelphia hotels are offering a free room for those spending the holiday weekend here to visit a loved one in the hospital or nursing home.

TMI hospitality, which owns three hotels in the suburbs, including a Spring Hill Suites and a Hampton Inn, is offering a helping hand to those visiting sick or elderly relatives over the upcoming holiday weekend.

TMI has been opening  rooms this way since 1988, said spokeswoman Nicole Ellis.

“The offer would be available to anyone who is traveling to visit a friend or family member whose currently receiving treatment in a hospital or is at a nursing home or at a treatment center,” Ellis said.

Ellis said the offer is available at any of TMI’s  properties nationwide.

“Holidays are stressful to begin with, and if you add in that you have a loved one who’s in a hospital, you know it can just be overwhelming to people,” she said. “So this is one thing we can do to make their lives a little bit easier.”
