Ridge talks about fracking on ‘Colbert Report’

Funny met serious last night when the Colbert Report tackled the controversial topic of fracking with former Pa. Gov. Tom Ridge.

“Yes it is happening to some water supplies, and it has absolutely nothing to do with hydraulic fracturing,” Ridge said of presnce of methane in well water. “They’ve had methane gas, speaking as a Governor, in some of our water wells in Pennsylvania long before any frack wells were located next to them.”

Host Stephen Colbert joked with Ridge about a scene from the film Gasland in which a man lights his faucet water on fire.

“Don’t smoke in your shower,” Ridge cut in when Colbert referenced a 2010 EPA to Wyoming residents to use fans while showering.

Probably good advice from Ridge regardless of methane presence.
