Report: South Philly priest could be suspended 18 years after relationship with teenager

A South Philadelphia priest faces suspension after a recent discovery that he had a sexual relationship with a teenager 18 years ago.

According to a report in the Inquirer, Msgr. Richard T. Powers of Epiphany of Our Lord parish has a relationship with a 17-year-old when he visited Venezuela with a ministry group nearly two decades ago.
His actions were detailed in a 1994 memo that was thought to have been ordered shredded by the late Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua.

Powers continued to live and work in other parishes, but now faces suspension.
