Report: Child broke free from attempted kidnapper in Allenhurt Saturday

A ten-year-old boy escaped an abduction attempt Saturday afternoon near Deal Lake in Allenhurst, according to a report on the Asbury Park Sun

As the child was leaving Deal Lake after fishing at approximately 2:25 p.m. Saturday, a man grabbed him by his shirt and tried to pull him into a white van near the Allenhurst train station parking lot, the report states.

But the boy foiled the kidnapping attempt and ran to a nearby business.

The suspect is described as a while male wearing a black sweatshirt, according to the report. The van is described as having bars in the back windows and a “palm tree design” on the rear license plate.
