Born into one tragedy, she died in another, Christina Taylor Green was among the victims in a Saturday shooting rampage in Arizona. The 9-year-old granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green had gone to see U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords since she’d just been elected to her third grade student council.

Green, who was born Sept. 11, 2001, was shot fatally in the chest Saturday outside a supermarket where the Arizona Congresswoman was holding an event. Green comes from a family of sports lovers. Her father is an East Coast scout for the LA Dodgers.
