Race suit against McFadden’s

There’s a storm a-brewin’ in Old City, where McFadden’s Restuarant & Saloon has come under fire as being racist. A lawyer working at McFadden’s has filed a suit citing several instances of racism at the establishment.

Michael Bolden’s suit against McFadden’s and parent company East Coast Saloons lists many grievances including what Bolden says is a racist dress code and alleged text messages exchanged between GM Walt Wyrsta and another manager, Kathryn Killian.

The dress code prohibits attire like baggy clothes, hats, white T-shirts, chains and hoodies, while the suit mentions a text message from Wyrst to Killian in which Wyrst calls McFadden a “white bar.”

The full details of the suit are in today’s Daily News, and Old-City based Philebrity is getting in on the commentary.

Comments on Philly.com are closed, naturally, but we want to know: should bars be able to make and enfore dress codes?
