Police: Woman steals motorized wheelchair, attempts getaway

    Police in Millville, New Jersey say a local woman has been charged with third-degree theft after allegedly attempting to steal a motorized wheelchair.

    According to The News of Cumberland County, police say they found the woman riding the wheelchair as she attempted to make a very slow getaway.

    The theft was reported by the wheelchair’s owner around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, after she noticed someone had taken her Invacare Pronto Sure Step motorized wheelchair.

    Police say the woman who allegedly took the wheelchair claimed she was only borrowing it to go shopping.

    According to the report, the officer who located the wheelchair placed it in the trunk of her squad car and returned it to its owner.
