Police: Stenton Ave. robbers have hit five banks since late December

It wasn’t their first bank robbery.

City police and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force announced Friday that the duo wanted in connection with a March 20 robbery at the Sovereign Bank branch at 8310 Stenton Ave. are suspects in four other robberies occuring in the past four months.

The other robberies were reported at the More Bank, 470 W. Cheltenham Ave. (Dec. 23, 2011 and March 14); Third Federal Bank, 6633 Roosevelt Boulevard (Jan. 6); and the Wells Fargo branch located at 700 Adams Ave. (Wednesday).

The suspects are described as two thin, 5-foot-10 black males wearing “Black Muslim-like clothing covering their heads and bodies.”
