Police investigation closes Route 9 in Marlboro

    UPDATE: According to the New Jersey State Police, there is “no threat.” As of shortly after 10 a.m., authorities are “clearing up” at the scene, according to a state police tweet. All lanes are open as of 11 a.m. 

    A stretch of Route 9 through Marlboro is closed this morning due to an ongoing police investigation.

    All lanes are closed in the area of Texas Road, according to 511nj.org. This stretch of Route 9 is regularly busy as the Route 18 interchange is to the immediate north. 

    According to a law enforcement source, emergency services responded to a report of a suspicious device on a NJ Transit bus.

    The bus is now unoccupied, and the investigation is ongoing, the source said.

    The New Jersey State Police tweeted that its bomb unit is on the scene. 

    Traffic is heavy on all nearby connecting roadways, according to Google Maps.
