Point Pleasant Beach sets parking fine

Motorists who received parking tickets in a Jersey shore town can now just pay the fine without going to court.

Point Pleasant Beach has set the fine at $48 and lifted the mandatory court appearance.

More than 700 people who received tickets since the ordinance went into effect on June 22 can pay online, by mail or at the court.

Point Pleasant Beach reserved parking east of the railroad tracks and north of Arnold Avenue between midnight and 6 a.m. for residents only to reduce noise from people leaving the boardwalk.

Court administrator Michelle Sargent tells the Asbury Park Press anyone who wants to fight the ticket has until Aug. 15 to contact the court.
