Plans outlined for Chester County community development projects

The Chester County Department of Community Development has decided how it will use the Community Development Block Grants and Housing Trust Program funding for this year. The money has been split among six projects.

As the Phoenix reports, Modena, Avondale, Coatesville, Oxford, Habitat for Humanity and the Chester County Food Bank will share the funds.

The municipalities will use their funding for things like streetscapes, water treatment and management, and road reconstruction. Habitat for Humanity of Chester County will build 45 new homes on tract it plans to improve in Coatesville, while the Food Bank will purchase and renovate an 8,600-square foot warehouse that will service more than 70,000 people.
