Local Verizon employees gathered around Rittenhouse Square this afternoon to protest what they call their company’s greedy practices.

“Verizon continues to soak customers, employees and taxpayers,” the employees’ announcement of the protest reads. “Employees have been fighting for a new contract for nearly a year, pushing back against Verizon’s demands to eliminate pensions and quality jobs and require workers to pay thousands more for health care.”

Verizon workers, students and members of CWA and AFL-CIO unions took their rally outside the home of company board member Joseph Neubauer, where they stood with signs in Verizon’s signature red and black that read, “Verizon: tax dodging and destroying jobs.”
