Photo contest highlights uses of Schuylkill River

Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in a contest that helps showcase uses of the Schuylkill River.

Now through Oct. 30, participants can enter up to nine photos for consideration. Three photos each in three categories — Wild & Scenic, Fun on the Schuylkill and Tip Top Tap — can be submitted.

Schuylkill Action Network is holding the contest to “show how awesome the Schuylkill River is.” Photos can highlight the river’s wildlife, the activities people use it for and its importance as a source of water for the Philadelphia area.

The contest is being held on Facebook, where participants can view the entries and see the prizes, which range from $50 to $300. SAN judges will select the 10 best photos from each category, then ask the public to vote for the winner. Voting will wrap up in December.
