Phone scam
Two elderly Burlington county women were scammed into sending thousands of dollars to Madrid, Spain, reports the Courier-Post.
The ruse: Both women received two phone calls. One from a man claiming to be each woman’s grandson and that he had been arrested and needed money to make bail in New York City. The other phone call was from a man pretending to be a lawyer, who outlined the details for wiring the money to the phony grandson.
One of the women told police she wired more than $3,000, reports the Courier- Post.
