Phoenixville theater gets state funding for expansion project

Phoenixville’s Colonial Theater will have even more space for its Blobfest come December, when its purchase of a neighboring building is expected to be complete. That purchase is made possible after an expansion study and through a $250,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant from the state.

The West Chester Daily Local reports the expansion will make way for more events and programs, those details of those aren’t mentioned. Every summer, Phoenixville residents participate in the annual festival celebrating all things Blob in honor of the ’50s horror movie partially filmed at the theater. Maybe the expansion will provide enough room for a mock Blob.
