Philly Marathon welcomes NYC runners, for a cost

Runners planning to participate in this year’s New York City Marathon have been offered a spot in Philly’s annual race instead.

When the New York run was cancelled Friday with less than 48-hours before its scheduled start time, 47,000 runners were left without a race. But according to NBC10 representatives from the Philadelphia Marathon have offered racers an alternative option.

“We currently are directing anyone interested in taking part in the Philadelphia Marathon to our charity spots, which are still available,” said Philadelphia Marathon Executive Director Melanie Johnson in a press release.

Though charity fund-raising requirements are normally higher than the regular entrance fee for the marathon, they are still available.

The Philadelphia Marathon, scheduled for Nov. 18, has been sold out for months.
