Philadephia earns top honors in National Geographic list for best hiking cities

There aren’t any mountains or even foothills in Philadelphia, but according to National Geographic Online, that fact doesn’t matter.

Philadelphia was named one National Geographic’s 15 best U.S. Hiking Cities. Philadelphia ranked high among other popular spots, such as; Seattle, Washington, Salt Lake City, Utah, Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California.

Nearby New York, NY and Washington, D.C. were also named to the list.

National Geographic Online sites the Wissahickon Valley as the best part of the city’s Fairmount Park System.
