Philadelphia’s sports fever is on full display at Modell’s Sporting Goods store near 16th and Chestnut Streets in Center City.

The store’s giant windows reveal rows and rows…and rows of hats and shirts in Eagles green, Phillies red, and Flyer’s orange.

Art Museum area resident Jae Barnes peeks in the window where a wall is covered in Eagles merchandise. Barnes says Vick’s dogfighting past was wrong, but…

“You can’t condemn somebody for the rest of their lives. You really can’t. And how Eagles fans are? All they wanna do is win. That’s all they wanna do!…They forgot all about what Michael Vick did when we got that win the other day so…I just feel like, give him a chance.”

Standing outside the sporting goods store, Rottweiler owner Michael Gall says Vick should have received a stiffer penalty for the dogfighting, but he says that was up to the courts. Still he says, there’s no doubt Vick’s a good quarterback.
