Philadelphia Orchestra to host Hugh Jackman for annual gala
Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor Hugh Jackman will headline the Academy of Music 156th Anniversary Concert and Ball with the new Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Jackman is an accomplished actor of stage and screen, and has just put another musical feather in this cap with the completion of a new adaptation of Les Misérables.
The Jan. 26 gala is billed as a celebration of histroy and a nod to new beginnings, featuring the a program of popular and classical programming, Broadway favorites and orchestral works.
This is the first orchestra season in Philadelphia for Nézet-Séguin. Observers are expecting the dynamic and renowned young conductor to breathe some new life into an orchestra that has found itself struggling in recent years.
