Philadelphia council members serve longer, spend more on salaries

    Not that we needed a study, but Pew went ahead and did one anyway. A report released today shows how Philadelphia’s City Council stacks up against other cities’. It ain’t pretty.

    As Heard in the Hall reports, Philadelphia council members, on average, have held their positions longer than members serving other large American cities — Baltimore and Chicago came closest, but are still 2.5 years behind.

    Our council is also among the top spenders on salaries and benefits.
