Pennsylvania House passes amendment to cell phone driving bill

    The Pennsylvania House has passed an amendment to House Bill 8 that would further regulate the use of hand-held cell phones while driving. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kathy Watson, R-144, bans reading, writing and sending text messages while driving.

    The Glenside News Globe Times Chronicle reports an amendment by Rep. Josh Shapiro, D-153, would ban would expand the bill to include hand-held use by all Pennsylvania drivers.

     

    Shapiro has been championing driving restrictions for teens and adults since the last House session.
