Penn’s Landing begins summer movie series tonight

The Fourth of July weekend marked the official beginning of summer, and Penn’s Landing begins its season tonight.

It’s Thursday Screening Under the Stars series starts tonight at 8:30. The RiverStage off Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street will host free movie screenings every Thursday night through August.

The event is billed a family affair, with kid-appropriate activities prior to each film. But tonight’s movie, 127 Hours, happens to rated R. On tap for the upcoming weeks are The King’s Speech, The Social Network and Eat, Pray, Love.
