Pending final vote, Atlantic City mayor stands to get a raise

Six Atlantic City councilmen have already approved a raise for Mayor Lorenzo Langford, but it will take a final vote to get him an extra $15,874 next year.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Langford stands to earn more effective Jan. 1. The ordinance to raise his salary is an attempt to pay the A.C. mayor a salary comparable to similar cities.
Langford, who oversees the city that now houses the new Revel Casino and the state’s tourism district, would make more than any civilian employee if granted the raise.

Residents will have a chance to comment before a vote is taken.
