Pedestrian struck, seriously injured on Route 37 in Toms River
A man was struck and seriously injured Friday evening on Route 37 in Toms River, police said.
Shuan Nichols, 37, of Adams Avenue in Toms River was struck while in the roadway near Aqua Blu Restaurant at 9:45 p.m. by a vehicle driven by Jesus Leonor Hernandez, 27, of Sumner Avenue in Seaside Heights, said Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco.
Hernandez was operating a 2005 Chrysler in the right eastbound lane when he struck Nichols, who was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of serious injuries, Stocco said.
The motorist is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle while having a revoked driver’s license, the spokesman said.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional charges are possible, according to Stocco.
