PATCO rolls out Quiet Car trial period March 1

Taking a cue from SEPTA, NJ Transit and customer surveys, PATCO will launch its quiet car trial later this winter to try to give passengers the calmer commute they’re in search of.

Beginning March 1, PATCO will dedicate the last car of each train as a quiet car, where rules will include keeping talks to a whisper, staying off the cell phone and playing music through head phones and at a low volume.

Train advertising space will be used to publicize the new rules, and train operators will make periodic announcements.

Following a three-month test period, PATCO will determine if the Quiet Car can stay.
