The Pennsylvania House district that includes Balacynwyd, Manayunk and Roxborough, is an open seat this year. Democrat Kathy Manderino, after 18 years in office in the 19th district, is not seeking re-election. This is just one of two open state
house seats this year. The other is the nearby 195th district which includes the Art Museum area, Powelton Village.
For Manderino’s seat, we have a five way contest among Democrats. Republican candidate Tim Downey is unopposed. The Green Party candidate will be Hugh Giordano.
The Committee of Seventy has this as one of their featured races on their website. It has some nice bio material on the Democrats.
