Owen J. Roberts student wins Chester County Spelling Bee

    Chester County has a new champion.

    Owen J. Roberts Middle School eighth grader Katie Proffitt has won the county spelling bee, held today. Proffitt now goes onto the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
    Fifty-two county schools were eligible for the local bee, and only one student from each could qualify, according to the Daily Local News.

    Proffitt won a dictionary, savings bond and encyclopedia subscription today, and will compete in the national competitiion during Bee Week, which begins May 27.
