Over 4,000 without power in Monmouth, Ocean following thunderstorms

    Over 4,000 power utility customers throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties are in the dark early this evening following a line of strong thunderstorms.

    According to JCP&L, 2,610 are without power throughout Monmouth County, with over 1,000 Red Bank customers in the dark. 

    In Ocean County, 1,810 are experiencing an outage, with almost all in the Silverton section of Toms River.

    That’s about one percent of all customers in each county.

    As of 7:40 p.m., crews have arrived in Red Bank and Silverton, according to JCP&L. They’re investigating the exact cause.

    The utility anticipates restoration for all by 9:30 p.m. today.
