No raise
The Philadelphia delegation of Pennsylvania’s Senate refused an annual pay increase today. Led by 3rd District Democratic Sen. Shirley Kitchen, the Philadelphia members turned down the automatic 1.7 percent cost-of-living raise.
Kitchen cited struggling families, a lack in Social Security payment increase and the state’s budget deficit as reasons why the delegation passed up the increase.
