No plans yet for Ocean Spray’s Bordentown facility

Ocean Spray’s move form Bordentown, N.J., to Pennsylavnia’s Lehigh Valley is still more than two years away, but the city and the company are already worrying about what comes next for the facility.

There are no plans yet for the 62-acre, 500,000-sq. ft. property, which will be vacant come September 2013 if nothing develops before Ocean Spray leaves. As the Burlington County Times reports, many are worried about the difficulties of selling off an old industrial plant for reuse during a time when manufacturing isn’t exactly a growing industry.

Right now, there are plans to set up a taskforce of residents of Bordentown City, Bordentown Township and others affected by the closing to discuss future uses for the property.
