No charges

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams has cleared police officer Anthony Avery in the shooting death of Timothy Goode.

Avery shot Goode in 2008 during a foot chase in Germantown. Goode was involved in a drug deal police were observing at the time and reportedly pointed a gun at officers during the pursuit.

Williams said his office has thoroughly investigated the case and will not pursue criminal charges against Avery. Goode is the grandnephew of former Philadelphia Mayor Wilson Goode Sr.
