10 defendants including Newark based New Day Financial Solutions and the Best Interest Rate Mortgage Company in Haddon Township are charged in two separate lawsuits. Attorney General Anne Milgram says they took advantage of financially struggling people who looked to them for help

Milgram: They gained the trust of their victims through deceptive advertising and misleading sales pitches and then they collected thousands of dollars in unlawful fees. In return they provided nothing but empty promises and in most cases added financial misery.

42 homeowners were victimized in the latest scheme. Milgram says there will be more civil and criminal cases. She says homeowners facing foreclosure may be able to get free help through the state’s foreclosure mediation program.
