Night of upsets for Delaware’s established GOP

Christine O’Donnell will be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate

Mike Castle, long-time Delaware congressman and a politician who had never lost an election since he first entered the Delaware legislature, has been defeated by Christine O’Donnell in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.   O’Donnell rode the national momentum of the conservative Tea Party movement.

The final votes show the margin of victory to be 53 percent to 47 percent.  In the GOP House primary, Glen Urquhart is riding his conservative credentials to about a 600- vote lead thus far.
