Newtown Borough to vote on State Street valet parking

Newtown Borough could vote on valet parking for State Street as early as tomorrow, and the system could be in place by the end of the month.

Once a few lingering legal issues are worked out, council will vote on the plan to bring a valet service to the borough’s main street Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Presented by two business owners, the plan calls for a pick-up/drop-off zone outside 22 S. State St., where drivers can pay $7 for an unlimited amount of time, Bucks Local News reports.

Council is on board to implement the traffic- and parking-easing service, but some concern exists over the Newtown Corporation being the responsible party. If all legal “niceties” are worked out in time, council could vote tomorrow on the matter.
