    Lots of things happening today on this, the day of the Philadelphia City Hall Tree Lighting (and return to the ‘Christmas’ Village). Here’s a quick run down of some of the stories we’re chasing today, in addition to some good news from the WHYY staff.

     

    Philadelphia City Council will host its first public comment meeting today. ‘Nuff said. Tom MacDonald will be in the session as the comments roll in.

    Gov. Ed Rendell, State Sen. Mike Stack and a host of others will make a funding announcement about Benjamin Rush State Park today around 11:30. Reporter Jen Howard is getting the details.

    A local poet will receive the Dylan Thomas Award, a Welsh award for young writers. Reporter Susan Philips is hoping to catch up with the winner, who’s already overseas.

    Peter Crimmins headed to Tir Na Nog just after the morning meeting. Not for an early morning drink, but to wait with the Philadelphia Union for the announcement of the 2022 World Cup location. FIFA will choose a country for the event today at 10 am.
