Newark cancels Memorial Day Parade due to inclement weather

There are two things you should know about the Newark, Del., Memorial Day Parade: It happens way before Memorial Day, and there is no rain date. Which is why weather has foiled this year’s plans and the parade has been called off.
Though Memorial Day is still two weeks away, the parade was schedule for yesterday afternoon, as the Wilmington News Journal explains. But the Main Street event was rained out, and the Parks and Recreation Department says there are no plans to reschedule it. About 900 people were expected to participate. The city traditionally holds its parade early.
