New Jersey ends discount for out-of-state E-ZPass users

Drivers, today is not your day.

Aside from the DRPA toll hikes, E-ZPass rates are also going up for some of you. Specifically, those of you driving in New Jersey but who own E-ZPasses registered in another state.

Yesterday was the last day the New Jersey Turnpike Authority offered off-peak hours discounts to all E-ZPass users. Only drivers with New Jersey-issued passes will get the break now, as the Associated Press reports.

If you plan to do a lot of driving through the Garden State, you may want to consider getting an E-ZPass there; you don’t have to live in the state to get the transmitter from there.
