National Marbles Tournament winner crowned today

Update: Two kids from Pittsburgh won this year’s marbles tournament. Go, PA! Baily Narr and Brandon Matchett are the 88th king and queen. They beat out players from West Virgina, Tennessee, Maryland and Colorado.

Original report: This one’s for all the marbles. The winner of the National Marbles Tournament will be crowned today in Wildwood after the competition began Monday.

A male and female champ will be named the king and queen of marbles, respectively, for advancing to the top spots in the 88th annual beach tournament, as the Associated Press reports. Forty-seven boys and girls from five states have spent the last few days trying to knock marble after marble out of a circle.

The winners get $2,000 scholarships and trophies. Pennsylvania is the only one from our tri-state area with competitors in the tournament.
