$10 million in aid for Irene-ravaged parts of Pa.

The federal government has committed $10 million for temporary jobs to help Pennsylvania recover from Hurricane Irene.

The Department of Labor announced yesterday that the emergency grant funding will create more than 2,100 temporary jobs for workers displaced by last month’s storm, the AP reports.

The workers will help with cleanup, repair, renovation and reconstruction projects.

About $3.3 million will be released to the state immediately, with the rest available if Pennsylvania demonstrates a need for it.
