Mayoral endorsement

Tom MacDonald was at the City Hall press conference this morning where Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams formally announced his endorsement of incumbent Michael Nutter for mayor.

Tom reports: “Mayor Michael Nutter has been endorsed by District Attorney Seth Williams.  The DA says he and the mayor are a team working to fight crime in the city, and going into the community hearing the problems of the people.

The mayor cited a drop in violent crime and his improvement to improve public safety as the base of his re-election campaign.  The DA has been mentioned by political insiders as thinking about running for mayor once Mayor Nutter’s time is over, but Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams name was mentioned as a potential competitor in the race.  He says he has not made up his mind about whether or not he would run for the job.”
