Mayor Nutter: Thousands in Philadelphia without power

    Mayor Nutter reports thousands of homes are without power in Philadelphia Sunday morning.

    The Mayor appeared live on Fox 29 just before 7 a.m. to provide the update on the state of the city after Hurricane Irene approached Saturday night.

    According to the Mayor, 21,000 homes are without power in Philadelphia, with 297,000 homes in the region without power.

    In New Jersey, the numbers were significantly higher.  According to Atlantic City Electric’s outage map, there were more than 1,000 active outages that were impacting 87,000 customers.
